Contract number for equipment
Could "mat" be an abbreviation for "matériel", meaning the equipment provided in the residence, for example the kitchen equipment, alarm clock, hairdryer, etc ?

: mat. is often an abbreviation for equipment but I've personally never heard of a contract for equipment in this context.
