Все будет так как должно быть

Russian to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings aphorisms
Друзья, подскажите, как лучше перевести для тату фразу "Все будет так как должно быть, даже если будет иначе!"
я перевела дословно everything will be as it must be even if it is otherwise!
но меня терзают сомнения.. может есть какой нибудь более английский вариант?
спасибо)

Clearly I'm thinking about this too much...

In any case, this answer sounds tight and authentic in English, and it even manages to cover the possibilities raised by the second clause of the Russian aphorism, albeit without the irony.
Laura Friend Oct 3, 2012:
Hi Simon, I didn't mean for "corny" to sound dismissive, but I can see where it does, now that you mention it. Sorry about that! I do agree that, for better or worse, this phrase has become part of the language/culture.

Оффтоп Очень длиннО для тату. Может, лучше на японский перевести - пара иероглифов, смысл тот же, а красоты - больше? ))

what will be will be

This might work for the first part...

IMHO trying to add the second part might spoil the idiom.

Depending on the context, you could also use the title of the Doris Day song - Que sera sera (whatever will be will be). The meaning is the same but it would be recognised, certainly by those of an older generation, as coming from the song.

agree Laura Friend : People who say that may be quoting that corny old song, which is impossible to get out of your head once you've heard it -- making it now, essentially, an English-language turn of phrase. ;-) "Whatever will be will be" flows better, imo.

I have to disagree that it's corny - compared to what I hear nowadays it's rather charming to my ears - once in a while. // sorry, my poor response, I didn't take it as such. :-)
neutral svetlana cosquéric : it's shoter, but not exactly the same idea. Всё будет так как будет/Что будет -то будет (fatalism)- Все будет так как должно быть (I know that the world is organized rightly whether I like it or not and it's it's for the best).

how would you describe the difference in meaning?//yes, that's clear, I was thinking more semantically than purely in terms of vocab as they both allude to the notion of fate.

Everything will turn out the way it should be in the end (turn out well)

Everything will turn out the way it should be in the end, even if the result will be different. (the outcome will be different).
