Dutch term

wisseltentoonstelling

Dutch to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Musea en tentoonstellingen
The following sentence is from a museum guidebook and relates to one of the exhibition rooms

'hier bevindt zich de wisseltentoonstellingen'

I can not think of a good translation for wisseltentoonstelling
I have tried using the phrase 'temporary exhibitions' but it just does not feel right.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Discussion

Glenda Janssen Jun 27, 2012:
Temporary exhibition(s) is standard AFAIK.
Jonathan Tavill (X) (asker) Jun 27, 2012:
Thankyou for the suggestions and confirmations
Jonathan Tavill (X) (asker) Jun 27, 2012:
I think I will stick with temporary exhibition. @ philgoddard: yes it does say hier bevindt zich. @Bryan: Rotating exhibition works although I am not sure if this would be applicable to the museum in question. I am using UK-English so exhibition is more appropriate.
philgoddard Jun 27, 2012:
Does it really say 'hier bevindt zich" rather than "bevinden zich"?
Dr O Luttikhuis Jun 27, 2012:
temporary exhibition room The Louvre museum has a temporary exhibition room, so I take it that this would be a perfectly good term to use.
Kate Collyer Jun 27, 2012:
I'm afraid... I think 'temporary exhibitions' is the standard phrase. I'll see if I can think of any alternatives though...

Wiki Ref:

You can also use "exhibition(s)". All the same to me...

agree philgoddard : "Exhibit" is US English, and would confuse UK readers. I suspect the asker will prefer the UK "exhibition". "Temporary" is fine too.

rolling/changing exhibitions

Rolling implies exhibits from the museum's own collection. Changing less so. Choose whichever fits best.
