Here is my list in full in an effort to provide more context:

- abwalzen , Alubarren und Alutafelmaterial
- zusammenwalzen, Alubarren mit Alufolie (Streifen) kalt/warm (SW-Fertigung)
- zusammenwalzen, Stahlstreifen mit Sandwich Alulegierung (plattieren)
- reduzierwalzen, Stahl-Aluminium Verbund bei 140/180°C (nachwalzen)

This all comes under the heading of "Duo Walzgerüst Stufe I".

Sorry, there wasn't much context to work with. I do appreciate your input.

Sorry Andrew and Oliver I didn't mean to offend anybody - promise.
I just couldn't find one useful Google hit, mentioning Duo-Walzwerk and Zusammenwalzen. Sandwich rolling might very well be the correct answer, but who can tell without having more context. Are there actually two different materials being sandwiched or is the same material just 'duplexed/layered'. I still don't know what Zusammenwalzen is ...
Maybe it's the joining of two slabs to make a continuous band ...

Klartext "Die eingegebenen Antworten zeigen deutlich, dass hier mehr Kontext gefragt ist." = "The pathetically wide-of-the-mark guesses entered below show that more of the surrounding text is needed so that the experts can post a definitive answer."
Bernd Runge May 23, 2012:
Joanna Scudamore-Trezek (asker) May 23, 2012:
My text only mentions "Abwalzen" which I find widely translated as "rolling".
Bernd Runge May 23, 2012:
How can Abwalzen be the same as Walzen ???
Joanna Scudamore-Trezek (asker) May 23, 2012:
Thank you both for the input. Sandwich rolling seems the most appropriate term.
My context is limited (a list), but the text is describing the 4 stage rolling process in a 2-high rolling mill: 1. abwalzen 2. and 3. zusammenwalzen, 4. reduzierwalzen.
So clearly an intended differentiation between abwalzen and reduzierwalzen. At this stage I shall go with rolling/sandwich rolling/reduction rolling.

Can be found through this route:
1. http://www.wissen.de/lexikon/metallueberzug says that Zusamenwalzen is Plattieren
2. http://www.dict.cc/german-english/Plattieren.html says that Plattieren is cladding
3. http://www.gemfireinc.com/?q=rollercladding says something about roller cladding
