Various definitions I'd avoid using Bachelor's or Licentiate, as the notion or definition of what an "Ordinary/Bachelor's/Honours/Licentiate/Master's... etc." degree is, and how many years it takes to get one, varies among countries and education systems. Upon arriving in Spain I was quite miffed to find my BA degree beng described as a "Diploma" because it wasn't a 5-year course...

Not this one again! The asker presumably knows what the English for "comunicación social" is, and licenciatura gets 159 hits in the glossary

Thanks, Charles. This is a tricky subject, but I'd rather clearly distinguish between a licenciatura and any other type of "first cycle" program.

Degree in Communication Studies

Of course Social Communication would be the most direct literal translation. However Communication Studies might be a poetic alternative for a functional translation into English, as it is a recognised term, with associated professional bodies, in the Anglophone academy.

Wiki is not my whole research world but I have included references below for a shorthand view!

neutral neilmac : Having taken part in a course when at uni, I understand "Communication Studies" as a narrower field, concerned mainly with the media and sometimes designated "Media Studies".
