ie the company believes that by not sending out cards but including their seasonal wishes in this letter they are behaving in a manner which would meet with the approval of their clients, being what their clients would also chose to do. That is how I understand it anyway.

I do not think you have to necessarily include the section you mention. I think you could phrase the sentence differently (see example). Another option (instead of please note) would be We have decided not to send Christmas Cards this year. Instead...

: Agree. What may sound OK in German often sounds pompous and self-righteous in English. OH will be doing the client a big favour by totally rewriting this section.
