Before lifting load, check for twists in the load chain. A twist can occur if the lower hook block has been capsized
between the strands of chain. Reverse the capsize to remove twist.

I can't access your file from work, but if it's talking about hooks, I'm pretty sure it's referring to capsized lower hook block. This might cause a twist in the chain, so the instruction is to check for it before operation. The linked file is one of many examples you will find by searching for "capsized hook block" (the relevant passage is on page 6, under "Checking for twist in load chain").

Did you work with hook "tombo"? I did it 3 years at a Yokohama steel mill. We had no Google search functions in those days (year 1975-8).

: Sorry to disagree, but if you look at the picture in the document attached to the original message you will see that this relates to a hook on a chain, not to a burr.
