French term

chevilles classées

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
From the record of a meeting in preparation for construction of a factory; I think in the nuclear or chemical industry. One of the items under the heading Fabrication:
"Formation du personnel chargé de la pose des chevilles classées"
(there is no other mention of cheville or classé in the document)

Discussion

Oliver Walter (asker) Sep 28, 2010:
Seems plausible That seems quite plausible, thank you. No useful information in the doc, really. Other items in this list are, for example, "Procédures de mises en oeuvre autres que le soudage", "Cahiers de soudage"
kashew Sep 28, 2010:
What do they do? Any idea in the doc, O; the choice is vast!

special anchors

Who knows what type they are, if they are for taking heavy loads, earthquake loads, are the mechanical or chemical type, special anti-vibratory fixings for pipework ... Whatever they are, they appear to be special!

Peer comment(s):

neutral Richard Hedger : we are not sure that these are mechanical expansion bolts. Could be chemically bonded.

Yes, maybe we should just call them fixings?

or high tensile anchor bolts.

The more I think about this one the more I'm convinced this is about chemically bonded bolts because they do require more training to use properly.
