Dear translators,
I'm not sure how to translate this accurately; I know it is some kind of 2 mm sieve, but it is not clear to me how to render "apertura de malla".
Here is the context:
Para esto las muestras de tierras de colores fueron secadas a una temperatura de 60º C por un tiempo aproximado de 12 horas en estufa de aire forzado y luego tamizadas empleando un tamiz con apertura de malla de 2mm.

Liz is correct in that it refers to a sieve with a mesh opening size of 2 mm. However, back when I worked at the soil mechanics lab back when I was at the university, nobody would say "we'll use the sieve with mesh opening size of 2mm".
We'd just say "the 2 mm sieve", everyone understood what was meant.
