I think it means this: "si bien que". Although "de sorte que" can mean "in such a way that", I don't think that's the right idea here. It's more on the lines of "to such a degree that" (common in legalese, too).

: Hello. This is how I read it, too. "In such a way that" just doesn't sound right to me here. It's more about "si bien que" (both are similar, I suppose, but there is a nuance). Just my humble opinion.
