Text explaining how to access services (tv, telephone, internet) in a hospital. Firstly, you have to obtain a card from the porter or the patients' registration desk, then:
"Bei jedem der Kassenautomaten k�nnen Sie aif Ihre Karte Geld aufbuchen..."
"Top up" is perfect if the patient's credit is running low, but it's not appropriate if the card is being "charged up" as it were for the first time. "Charge up" sounds like plugging into a socket - something about "start credit" maybe...

If you're not satisified with the phrase "charge up", then how about charge, as in charge a battery? I believe this word could be used in both ways, when the budget on the card is low, or for the first time.
