The facade of the building is composed of a dynamic and fluid three-dimensional array of ceramic tiles and has been based upon drawings on motifs and patterns found in traditional Thai architecture. Changes in gradient, rotation and spacing break the long spans of continuous frontage into a rich pattern.

terraced
In UK English for houses.
In the US I think they are known as row houses.

is also used of shops, as in "a terraced row of shops", see for instance: http://www.chelmsfordbc.gov.uk/media/pdf/6/j/report.pdf

: yes, terraced too, but tends to be with "row of" for shops (except for railway modelling, when I looked up "terraced shops" just now!)

thanks Rachel. I was unsure of its use with shops but "terraced row of shops" seems to be fairly frequent.

I believe that "facade" would be the most appropriate architectural term here.

rowhouses or semi-detached housing (US)
I agree with Gilla and Patinba concerning the UK term. The above are the US terms for the same, although "semi-detached" showed up in an Australian web site. Sources: "The second volume is devoted to the various types of row house, a particularly widespread form of residential structure. A general discussion of the row as organizing principle - the row as urban building block, linear space, ways of handling corners - is followed by the systematic presentation of the different types."http://arquidocs.blogspot.com/2008/12/row-houses-housing-typ... "The brief called for two two-storey semi-detached houses, united behind a single facade: an experiment in higher density coastal architecture that doesn't ..."

This was part of my reply a few minutes ago to the question posted in Eng-Spa

: But what about (say) Oxford Street? You wouldn't call those terraced shops. That's why we need more context.
