When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

mchd Jan 3, 2010:
Demande de "PRO" sans contexte ??? pourquoi demander de l'aide ce cas !!
Sheila Wilson Jan 3, 2010:
So it does So that's one of your potentially "wrong" answers avoided! I suppose it's because I live in an area where all the villages are mushrooming, sprouting roman-type villas with spas and jacuzzis. No effort spared for the most kitch effect
mediamatrix (X) Jan 3, 2010:
@Sheila Now that's interesting - you misread the exceedingly short ST the same way I did when I first saw it. It says 'mushrooming EFFORT', not 'effect'.
Sheila Wilson Jan 3, 2010:
Context? "English to French; other; mushrooming effect" really isn't much to go on unless you want a 100% literal translation - and I imagine you could do that yourself
mediamatrix (X) Jan 3, 2010:
I reckon ... ... there are probably at least a dozen correct translations of this word, but only one of them will be best in your context. So why not give us the context so we don't waste time and effort giving 11 'wrong' answers?

"In This Room, Star Power

One of the hardest rooms to get into in Copenhagen is the one where mayors from across the globe have gathered to boast about their green credentials.

They are part of a group called Local Governments for Sustainability, which has been holding standing-room-only presentations since the opening of the climate conference last week.

The organization has 1,100 delegates here, the largest number of any entity except Denmark, the host country.

Their numbers reflect the mushrooming effort by urban areas, where half the world’s population lives, to drive the conversation on tackling climate change </B>and, perhaps more important, to secure financing for causes like mass transit."

agree Sheila Wilson : well thank you, FX, I do believe you're right and you seem to have provided the complete context for a series of 3 questions - shame it didn't come from the asker
