Portuguese term

Vistas

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Law (general) Legal language
Hep, can someone tell me what this term means and what the English equivalent would be. It is a heading above the judge's arguments on an adoption decree, and simply says "Vistas e etc."
Thanks.

Charles: Please, go ahead and enter an answer. The translation of this whole phrase has certainly helped Stephen a lot; I could not do it so well. It is the right thing to do and I support it.

"Calling on delvento" - let's get him to post the answer, he was the first to draw.
Stephen Kramer (asker) Oct 3, 2009:
Thanks Charles, maybe you could enter an answer so I can close this question. Have a good weekend.
Charles R. Castleberry Oct 3, 2009:
The (case) records have been released for examination by the plaintiffs and the defendants .... / The Examination of Records period has been opened to ... (the parties of intrest are allowed to see court proceedings/rulings)
Stephen Kramer (asker) Oct 3, 2009:
Back again I´m up against this term again in a slightly different context:
Abriu-se vistas para os requerentes e para os requeridos, não tendo sido juntado aos autos os memoriais pelos primeiros, mas consta cota de protocolo no Fórum.
What is the meaning and how do you say it? Thanks again.
Giuliano Esgur Sep 29, 2009:
I agree with Charles (in this case) - "Examination of the records" - it means that the Judge has examined and gone through the records prior to writing his arguments...
Charles R. Castleberry Sep 28, 2009:
yes "Examination of the records" by what my attoney studends say, the Maria Chaves de Mello and the Noronha Dic. say
delveneto Sep 28, 2009:
Será que não tem algo a ver com "solicitar vistas do processo" (request examination of the records)?
