The definition given by Kathryn Litherland is the same for the for "auctionner". Here follows definition given by her: "In law, a liquidator is the officer appointed when a company goes into winding-up or liquidation who has responsibility for collecting in all of the assets of the company and settling all claims against the company before putting the company into dissolution."

Trustee

When a company goes into liquidation, the court appoints a trustee to wind it up and pay off creditors.

For example "Picard was named trustee of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC on Dec. 15, four days after prosecutors said Madoff confessed to the crime. Picard was told to liquidate the brokerage, find assets and distribute them to Madoff’s customers."
