Does anyone know how you put this in Dutch? It is a thermostat, very much like an egg timer, where you turn a disk to the required temperature.

This would be the most literal translation. According to Wikipedia it's called a "conventionele thermostaat", and "in de volksmond" I'd say people call it an "ouderwetse thermostaat".
