English term

earned hours

GBK English to German Bus/Financial Engineering: Industrial
Definition from Lean Affiliates:
Labor or machine hours calculated by multiplying standard hourly rates by actual production for a given period. Earned hours are compared to actual hours to identify efficiency variances.
Example sentences:
The number of earned hours, or value-added hours, is determined from the computation of product produced and production time required for each product. These total hours are divided into the total cost of labor to determine the cost of labor per standard hour. (Society of Manufacturing Engineers)
You must fully understand what your earned hours are and what portions of labor make up those hours since it is the earned hours that produce your revenues, not the number of hours your employees are at work! (Ezine Articles)
If labor for individual operations are not currently tracked, a chart of accounts must be established that tracks labor down to the operation. Furthermore, by calculating the earned hours (estimated time to complete a task multiplied by the number of items complete), we can measure efficiency. (CBS Interactive Inc. )

Discussion

Blaess Sep 12, 2009:
@ Enrique The proposed translation "Leistungsstunde" is undisputed so far and since vetting of the question is weeks from today, I would kindly like to suggest to either just-close the question or award the points. Otherwise the impression could arise that there is no interest in answers and discussions - which is probably not the case, but anyway.
Kind regards

Leistungsstunde this is just an update of an internet link cited below (IHK) that has expired in the meanwhile:

John Jory Aug 11, 2009:
Term far more widely used for student assessment Here is just one reference:
"Earned Hours (EHRS) represent the number of quarter credits earned at Eastern and include any transfer credits awarded"
See http://portal.brint.com/cgi-bin/cgsearch/cgsearch.cgi?query=...

The definitions quoted above only refer to productivity calculations.
Victoria Frenzel Aug 2, 2009:
This is an explanatory translation as I don't think we have a term for "earned hours" in German.

Leistungsstunden

Definition from own experience or research:
Tatsächlich geleistete Arbeit (Mensch oder Maschine) bezogen auf eine Stunde. Leistungsstunden im Verhältnis zu tatsächlich verstrichenen Stunden stellen ein Maß für die Effizienz dar.
Example sentences:
(IHK NRW)
Preis für eine Leistungsstunde (Lohn/Gerät) und/oder Materialeinheit (FR Lawfirm)

Ausführungszeit

Definition from REFA / Wirtschaftslexikon:
Nach REFA (Verband für Arbeitsstudien und Betriebsorganisation e. V.) ist
Ausführungszeit = Zeit je Einheit * Anzahl der Einheiten
ta = te * m
Example sentences:
Die eigentliche Arbeitszeit; Ausführungszeit = Stückzeit x Menge (IFW Wissen)
Peer comment(s):

agree Ursula Blömken
3 days 5 hrs
disagree Andrew Morgan : Im going to disagree because the REFA definition is only about time, whereas the term being defined is explicitly about cost
3 days 5 hrs
disagree Yarramalong : Ausführungszeit kann nicht sein. Nach der mir vorliegenden Definition "Time credited to a worker or group of workers for assessment of wages" stimmt dieses Wort nicht.
