Arabic term

Tanjaouia

Arabic to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Situation: Tangier, Morocco, around 1951.
During a party a girl pretends to be somebody else. But a man recognizes her, he knows that she is a local girl from Tangier, besides he knows that she works in a brothel. He talks to her in Arabic, and she pretends she does not understand, and then he says: "Everyone knows you're a Tanjaouia." Does this mean just a local girl, or something entirely different? Thanks!
