English term

grouted cut-off

English to Spanish Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation weir, powerplant
If shown to be necessary by the results of permeability testing during construction a grouted cut-off shall be established to a depth of at least 50% of the weir height, it shall extend at less across the full width of the weir and up the adjacent abutments to the top of the wing walls.

I think is a kind of isolation system but I've no idea of the name for "cut-off" in Spanish, I know "grouted" is "lechada"

Help, thanks

Discussion

Laureana Pavon Jun 6, 2009:
Cutoff wall vs. retaining wall Cutoff wall: A thin, watertight wall of clay or concrete built to reduce seepage.
Retaining wall: A structure that is employed to restrain a vertical-faced or near-vertical-faced mass of earth.
Daniela Lara (asker) Jun 4, 2009:

cut-off o retaining wall = muro de contención

neutral Laureana Pavon : A cut-off wall is not the same as a retaining wall.
