Discussion

Mikhail Kropotov Mar 25, 2009:
??? I gave you the answer you were looking for. They only work with grains.
Ellen Kraus Mar 24, 2009:
Velia, my reply to your latest inquiry you ll find in the column foreseen for additional remarks.
Michael Korovkin Mar 24, 2009:
Big industrial bakeries (i.e. Barilla in Italy) receive grain and take it from there, including the production of their own flour. So, they use all kinds of equipment–from mills, mixers and pre–forming machines, to ovens, slicers and packaging machinery

Note from asker:
Michael, I do have a lot of gratitude for you all in heping me, but does this complex involve grain processing and baking? I do ask because this is for a company that manufactures equipment for the grain industry, not the baking industry, although one leads to the other.

Velia, in reply to your inquiry - the equipment or machinery you are referring to, to my thinking is used for grain or cereals processing. <Producing> grain is something I connect with producing an artificial product. I think by processing grain the plant produces flour and unless they also assume the baking part, they will supply the baking trade, bakeries etc.
Note from asker:
Do they procduce cereals or just process grain? I am sorry, I do not know any Russian, but this was in the English version that I recieved. Thanks!

Akkainar Grain Production Center/Complex, Uralsk, Kazakhstan

AO means a joint-stock company.

Akkainar is a proper name, the actual company name. "Kombinat Khleboproduktov" is a generic description, literally "grain production center," but also a part of the company name.

They process grain, not bakery

This page lists what they produce:

There are no baked goods in the list.

Per KudoZ rules, you should choose the most helpful answer. The original answer is supplemented by notes, to help the asker further (which we all did in this case).

There was no way to translate Kombinat correctly (production vs. processing) without researching this exact company. So I did.

As you said, the site "takes" the term provided, but then you, as the asker, can modify it any way you like. You are welcome to use your own translation.

Therefore, there is no good reason NOT to award no points, since the answers were helpful to you.

Check my original answer again:
AO means a joint-stock company.
Note from asker:
Mikhail, your response was the most accurate, but could not leave it as an exact answer. The reason is that I found the company listed in this site as grain-product complex Akkainar, CJSC. For the reason that grains are not produced there, just processed. You were very close, but you know how the site takes the term as proposed by us. Thank you very much for all you effort and help.
Sorry, you fail to provide the English verison of AO which in English is the extension CJSC. None of you three did it, perhaps the closest was Michael, so it was my decision to close the question without giving the points (I can not divided them between the two of you). Check this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_joint-stock_company#Post-Soviet_Joint_Stock_Companies I am sorry, but this is it. I am closing for the reasons given above. Else, we can contact the moderator.
