your gut instinct is fine :) Thanks Tony, indeed, in the text underneath, there are highlights on features offered only by this manufacturer.
Tony M Jan 13, 2009:
lockouts / knockouts Well, unless these are features that are so good they 'lock out the competition from the market place', my instinctive response would be that these are 'knockout features'.

I freely admit, though, that I am not at all 'into' this 'marketing scene', so I'm working purely on gut instinct.
Martine Brault (asker) Jan 13, 2009:
Tony: It could be, but my question remains: The only knockouts I am familiar with in a Marketing context are copies of brand names and it is definitely not the case here. The machine is made by a major manufacturer.
Tony M Jan 13, 2009:
Is it at all conceivable that this might be a typo for 'knockouts'? — given that 'K' and 'L' are adjacent keys, if someone inadvertently typed 'lnockouts', a spell-checker might be more likely to correct that to 'lockouts'
Martine Brault (asker) Jan 13, 2009:
un photocopieur

Arnold007: C'est un appareil de bureau, pas un logiciel
Martine Brault (asker) Jan 13, 2009:
or are they... unique features = fonctionnalités/caractéristiques uniques?
Arnold T. Jan 13, 2009:
Qu'est-ce qu'il fait ce logiciel ?

lock-out

Dans le context des entreprises, un "lock-out" est une fermeture provisoire. Mais parce que vous donnez peu de contexte, je ne suis pas certain de ma solution.
Example sentence:

Le lock-out est une fermeture provisoire d’une entreprise, décidée par l’employeur pour répondre à un conflit collectif (grève).

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Context or not, this couldn't really make any sense at all in the situation described.

Pour un photocopieur, c'est très possible.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : I'm pretty sure this is specialist marketing jargon and has nothing directly to do with hardware.
