Discussion

Rosa Cabral Oct 6, 2008:
Here is the site for Serenidae, the salamander http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/nearmi/species/
Mirra_ Oct 5, 2008:
yes, Rosa. That was my answer, indeed :) Anyway I'm waiting the Asker's clarification since, until now, we do not know if the text deals with amphibians, or, with mammals...
Lionel_M (X) Oct 5, 2008:
Rosa, do u have a link ?
Rosa Cabral Oct 5, 2008:
an aquatic salamander (an amphibian)
Lionel_M (X) Oct 4, 2008:
Serenide is not a BDZ either
Mirra_ Oct 4, 2008:
well, it plentifully looks like a typo... :))
-serendide as an animal does not exist (at least I don't remember anything like that in my zoological studies)
-I could only think about a new kind of benzodiazepine but the Asker says it's an animal,so...;)
Lionel_M (X) Oct 4, 2008:
sErenidi or sIrenidi ?
Serenidi is not an animal in Italian and both Mirra and Rachel answered for sirenidi

sirenian

difficult to know without context, but may be a typo for "sirenide"

There are also aquatic salamanders called si|rè|ni|de - anfibio anguilliforme della famiglia dei Sirenidi, prevalentemente acquatico, diffuso nelle regioni sudorientali e centrali degli Stati Uniti e nel Messico nordorientale | pl. con iniz. maiusc., famiglia dell’ordine degli Urodeli - De Mauro
fam. Sirenoidea -sirens in Eng.

Thank you Science451
agree Alessandra Renna : yes, sirenia. Sirenidi usually refer to mammals in Italian. But more context would be useful

Thank you Alessandra - yes
neutral Lionel_M (X) : So the question would be SIREnidi and not SEREnide?//Yes, that would make sense Rachel

I suggested it might be a typo
Something went wrong...
