German term
grüne Truppe
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Metallurgy / Casting
manufacture of castings
An article about a foundry (Gießerei) says: "In der langen Kette der Qualitätssicherungsmaßnahmen im Produktionsprozess der Giesserei müssen alle Gussteile zusätzlich die Finale Prüfung durch die 24 Ultraschallprüfer der GRÜNEN TRUPPE durchlaufen." (capitals in the original).
I've not been able to find what is "grüne Truppe". Is it just a set of 24 ultrasound machines that are green coloured?

this is likely. Consult the author of the article and ask him if he used this pseudo for the Green Party. Often the media does so. If you then translate it keep the sarcasm and foot-mark it.

Glad to be of help. It might have been better to footmark the term anyhow, as this pseudo is really only known within Germany.

Comment: "Thanks for your suggestion, which looks plausible. I asked the client via the agency but received no reply, so they received my translation (green troup) without any reference to the "greens"."
