German term

Ringrenngebäude/Ringrennhaus

German to English Other History Schloss & Park Pillnitz
August der Starke bergseitig ein zweites Ringrennhaus errichten, das einen Karussellmechanismus mit hölzernen Pferden und Wagen beinhaltete, auf denen die Damen sitzend mit Lanzen nach Ringen stachen; nach dem Schlossbrand von 1818 diente das Gebäude sommers als Theater. 1879 bis 1880 erfolgte der zweiflügelige Ausbau zur Orangerie.

Dear all, does anyone know how to translate this word? Or at least try to explain it to me?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Regards,

Susana

Yes, that was clear enough - but what's the context/readership for the actual translation? Why and for whom is an English version required?
Suky Suky (asker) Jan 30, 2007:
Dear Francis, as it is mentioned above it is a text about History regading the "Palace & Park of Pillnitz".

I would leave the German appellation as is, and translate it in brackets.
Here is a site where just that has been done:
http://www.schloesser-dresden.de/en/pillnitz/start/content.h...
"Following the fire in the Renaissance castle on May 1, 1818, a new structure was erected, which replaced all functional areas of the old castle and gave the arrangement a new end point. The palm house was erected in 1859 for the extensive royal collection of plants, while the Ringrenngebäude (ring race building) was expanded into the Orangery in 1879/80. In 200 years Pillnitz had developed from a pleasure palace into a royal residence, in which science and art were also given pride of place."
