jam-making

Art/Literary
Poetry & Literature
Posters of lost causes hung on drawing pins, posters by Christopher Logue about electric chairs, political statements that would never be realised, and poetry broadsheets that were as far from jam-making as Tintern Abbey is from Las vegas.

empalagosa
Saludos

: I thing you're on a good track right there. "Fabricar mermelada" made no sense to me.

"Jamming" is also called "Jam". But never mind that: jam spread hardly makes sense. The author makes a comparison: two elements that would usually relate (poetry posts and jam), but under that situation are far apart. I guess both are kind of a long shot

la preparación de mermeladas
It may be meant literally, in an incongruous list of elements.

I think if the term referred to musical improvisation, it would be "jamming" rather than "jam-making".

You are probably right, Alex. Metaphorically, it could refer to the production of sugary, sentimental verses ("sentimientos azucarados"?).

Note from asker:
I have thought about it. The thing is that it is the only incongruous element of the list. |
