Reading between the lines, your text is about a multiple unit of some sort - probably an electric one.

There are three modes available to an electric multiple unit:
1) normal operating mode
2) "TC" mode, (short for the instruction to the driver to "Trip Circuit-breakers) in which the unit(s) have their circuit-breakers tripped, while they are are of service for a short period of time, and
3) berthed, when the unit(s) are shut down, and are not required for service immediately - or it is not known how long will elapse before it/they ARE wanted for service. This would normally see the vehicle(s) placed in the shed (Remise) where possible, but it wasn't in the case below.

Have a look at this interesting account of events when there was a major power failure on the SBB in 2005, and you will find the excerpt below just above a picture of an SBB-Cargo diesel locomotive, about two thirds of the way down the page:

Ich entschliesse mich, meine Ae 6/6 zu remisieren. Dem Lokführer der Hilfslok rate ich das auch. Wir müssen mit dem Luftvorrat haushälterisch umgehen. Konservieren, was wir noch haben, ergänzen können wir nichts mehr.
