X spends all his money on a plot on for his dream house, but when the greedy Z captures his plot, his family must band together to scam the biggest goon in the property business.

Please explain the above phrase? Thanks in advance.

His family have to forget any quarrels or differences between them. They have to work together in order to cheat the biggest criminal operating in the property business

Band together means to join together to work towards a common goal.
To scam means to deceive someone, usually involving taking money or possessions from them.
A goon is a thug or crook, generally not a very nice person.
