The title "Industriekaufmann/Kauffrau" is awarded when someone has completed a 3-year training programme within a manufacturing company supplemented by 1 or 2 days college-release during this time. At the end of the 3 years, they have to submit a folder explaining what they have learned in each department (filing, book keeping, accounting, credit control, HR, wages & salaries, sales, marketing, distribution, quality control, etc., etc.) and pass an exam set by the Industrie- und Handelskammer.
This training and the qualification is also available for retailers (Einzelhandelskaufmann), Banking (Bankkaufmann) and wholesale (Grosshandelskaufmann).
