English term

blow

Non-PRO English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
I wander about a phrase from Harlan Coben's Promise Me:

"... they held the intercontinental tag-tem championship belt for FLOW, the Fabulous Ladies Of Wrestling. The wrestling organization had originally wanted to call itself the Beautiful Ladies of Wrestling, but the network had trouble with the ensuing acronym."

I have some considerations about what is meant by troubles about such acronym as BLOW, but i would be really happy if native speakers share their ideas with me. Thank you.

Blow has other connotations

Blow can mean a few different things. The meanings the network had problems with would presumably be those associated with hot air or fellatio.

yup, especially where groups of women are involved
agree Suzan Hamer : and with Rita, Dave AND especially Kenneth. Here in the Netherlands, "blow" also means to smoke grass or hash, and I believe extends to mean even the substance itself.

agree NancyLynn : Actualy Suzan, in N.A. anyway, blow is cocaine, but I agree it probably has more to do with fellation

FLOW: Fabulous Ladies Of Wrestling!

I think the acronym is not "Blow"; it is "Flow" -- and what the acronym stands for is right there in the source text that you provide: FLOW, the Fabulous Ladies Of Wrestling!
