mechanical resumption of stress

“stress” could be replaced by “strain”, “effort”,. Context was narrow. To get the sense, this is what I did: fonction mécanique de reprise d’effort <<against>> fonction numérique de reprise d’effort, and got a rough translation that goes like this: “resumption of stress from mechanical action”. I hope it does help.
