[phork] may suppress/drop the final vowel / may exhibit syncope of the final vowel
'Suppress' is the technical linguistic term; "drop" is used in the usual prescriptive grammars.
Also syncope: In linguistics, syncope is the deletion of phonemes from a word, or from a phrase treated as a unit; compare elision.

omission/suppression
I'm almost 100% sure that "deleção" (which is not PT-PT) is a bad translation of "deletion" and, therefore, "omission" or "suppression" would be the right words.
