Open the sweatband at the rear and adjust until comfort is reached; press unit together with the Velcro etched.
I am quite sure it is a typo, nut of what? Unfortunaltely I don't have a picture, but I assume that it means that you press together the Velcro strips.

Stretched tight to ensure a tight fit?

: I thought of "attached", but "stretched" is more likely.

Thanks Jack - it's quite a massive typo whatever it's supposed to be!

edges?
Velcro 'edges' perhaps? though 'ends' would make more sense to me...

Hey, here is another choice. Besides, Velcro does not stretch as anyone who has used Velcro can attest.

: Could be - admittedly Velcro doesn't stretch, but e.g. in a sweatband, cap etc. with a velcro fastening you can move the hooked strip along to make it more taught before pressing it on the "felt" strip
