Italian term

conci successivi

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering bridges
The sentence says "con impalcato in conci successivi" ... I know what they mean: it's a sequence of bridge arches, but I'm at a loss for the correct technical expression.
Any help gratefully accepted...!!!

Discussion

Yakov Tomara May 3, 2006:
Sorry, but are you sure? "Concio" usually stands for "ashlar" and so it's probably about the masonry type rather than about the overall bridge construction.

segmental (deck)

Hi Angela
I think this is the specific term

http://www.oice.it/documenti/documents/doc/memorie2002/mem7....

(...)
I primi ponti a sbalzo avevano tutti i conci gettati in opera. L'idea di impiegare conci prefabbricati si deve ai francesi che nel 1962 costruirono il ponte di Choisy-le-Roi sulla Senna, progettato da Jean Müller, allievo di Freyssinet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segmental_bridge

As its name implies, a segmental bridge is a bridge built in short sections (called segments), i.e., one piece at a time, as opposed to traditional methods that build a bridge in very large sections. The bridge is made of concrete that is either cast-in-place (constructed fully in its final location) or precast concrete (built at another location and then tranported to their final location for placement in the full structure).
The first *segmental concrete bridge*, built in 1950, was cast-in-place across the Lahn River in Balduinstein, Germany. The first *precast segmental concrete bridge*, built in 1962, crossed the Seine River in France. (FHWA 2003)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This is it!!! Many thanks to the others, who cleared my ideas (I have a photo with arches, that was why I was confused) , but Linda certainly found the specific term."

successive (bridge deck) elements

Often the bridge deck consists of large prefabricated concrete elements that are erected succesively and prestressed together to form a continuous bridge deck.

Angela, concio in general means imply "brick" but it now also used for large prefabricated elements, for bridges, viaducts and so on. See tow sites below,
