Deliverables

English Bus/Financial Computers: Systems, Networks
I have just taken on a localisation project and I am struggling with the word "deliverables". I have considered products, services, documents etc. It is a word that is used infrequently in the UK so all help would be appreciated.

Some context:

Phase one- Project Design
Since each audit project is unique, we ensure that the results will fully meet our customers needs. The first part of this phase determines the goals and objectives, timeline and "deliverables". Our audit teams conduct site visits to examine the facility records, equipment status and the scope of the network. The resulting design plan includes a complete scope of work, schedule and pricing information.

Phase Three - Deliverables
The result of XXX Network is a professional set of deliverables (in hard and soft copy format) as defined in the project design phase and may include:

Infrastructure drawings
Interconnect tables
Signal flow drawings

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Andy. I was hoping to finding another word for "deliverables" in this context, although the main problem is that I mainly do translation work and I am a bit unsure to what extent this should be localised into UK English.

Over here in the USA, I work with the air force. ALL their contracts contain deliverables. You are correct, it can be documents, drawings, software source code, airplanes, helicopters, user manuals...

To cut to the bottom line, a deliverable over here is anything listed in the contract as something the contractor MUST deliver to the customer. They may haggle over exactly what was meant, but it must be listed in the contract.

Deliverables

Hi Adam,

Not sure exactly what your question is...i.e. if you want to use a different word.

Personally, I wouldn't - and it is not used infrequently in the UK - it' standard usage.

Hi Adam,

"Deliverables" is now managementspeak worldwide - OK, probably US originally, but now as widely used as "to impact", "to partner", "to leverage synergies" etc.....

It's saving grace is that, to the best of my knowledge, there is no other word in English which can cover a service, a piece of software, a phone line or a shirt.

If there's a manager in the UK who doesn't understand "deliverables" he/she probably shouldn't be left alone with sharp instruments or matches. :-)
Note from asker:
Keep up the good work!
