Spanish term

un mapeado

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software EDI
I know that "mapeado" is "mapping", but they talk about "un mapeado" and "a mapping" sounds rather odd to me. Shouldn't the "mapped" object simply be called a "map"? Context:
"Un mapeado es un proceso mediante el cual transformamos un esquema de datos origen en uno destino haciendo uso si es necesario de listas de conversión y fórmulas..."

agree Margaret Schroeder : neilmac: A "mapping" isn't a map, it's a specification for a matching between (in this case) a source and a final data configuration.
