Don'ts of networking
-Avoid words like: “I am only…”
”I only have a small business.” That does not sound hugely interesting. If you already start by stating that you are not interesting, the other one will start thinking that pretty soon as well.
-Do not stand with the same person the entire night
It is better to get to know several people.
-Avoid technical jargon
It is important that others can participate in the conversation. They will not be able to if you use words they do not really understand.
-Do not tell your usual story.
A personal story will stick; the story of the umpteenth person who tells you that he has a clothes shop does not.
