am thinking they may be "capelli d'angelo" (and only mentioned as short pieces above because they're being put into the soup - as capelli d'angelo are broken up too for use in this way)

: In Spain, "cabello de angel" could be confused with a confectionery filling. Only trying to be helpful. To a British English speaker angel hair pasta doesn't sound correct either.

: this is debatable bec vermicelli is technically bigger in diam. although some dict. include them in their descriptions(sometimes by qualifying & saying vermicelli is bigger than angel hair;both terms are of It. origin;Vermicelli=small worms
