German term

Paniertes

Non-PRO German to English Other Cooking / Culinary
Auch im Zusammenhang mit einer Diätvorschrift.
Kontext:
Auf Paniertes soll generell verzichtet werden. (gemeint sind sowohl paniertes Fleisch, gebackener Fisch, gebackenes Gemüse etc.)
Gibt es da einen so einen praktischen Oberbegriff wie im Deutschen?

Peer comment(s):

agree Klaus Herrmann : Sorry, I didn't look at the other question because I didn't even know the German term - to me, eingebranntes is what's left at the bottom of the pan...

breaded

Paniert kommt von panem et circenses, oder?
Peer comment(s):

agree writeaway : absolutely. (fwiw-if you don't watch breaded food when it's cooking, it does turn into eingebranntes.. :-)

I can turn *anything* into eingebranntes :)
agree Hilary Davies Shelby : this works too

Thank you
agree Sarah Downing : Although I suspect BE tends to use "in breadcrumbs" rather than breaded

1 hr

coating applied to a foodstuff before shallow/deep frying

I submit this because paniert means "battered" i.e.of fried fish,as well as breaded or breadcrumbed,the former being just a shorter form.

deep-fat fried and breaded foods should be avoided

The breading isn't necessarily the problem - it's the fat that packs the calories, and is difficult to digest.
