French term

le tour d'enrober les choses

French to English Social Sciences Human Resources Problem employees
HR manual on problem employees. In a section on good communication with such employees there's a list of qualities, including "le tour d'enrober les choses". (Other qualities are tact, diplomacy, being articulate.) I'm wondering about "ability to couch one's words".

the ability to soften one's (or "your") comments/words

This is another possibility. But isn't that the same thing as being tactful?
