Hi,
I was contacted by an agency about a potential voiceover project, and as I'm new to these sorts of projects, I was hoping to get some guidelines or feedback on quoting. Hi,
I was contacted by an agency about a potential voiceover project, and as I'm new to these sorts of projects, I was hoping to get some guidelines or feedback on quoting. The agency says they estimate the project at about 6,500 words and estimate the total recording time at about 10 minutes. It is pertaining to e-learning courses. They want to know how much I charge per hour. Do they mean per hour of finished audio or per hour worked to do the job? If the former, then should I prorate, or is there usually a minimum charge?
This person's web site says their rates start at $350 for the first 5 minutes, and after that $70 per five minutes: https://www.nethervoice.com/rates/
"For non-broadcast voice over work (including categories of work like animation, business, educational, videogames, etc.), talent fees are priced by the finished minute. As an approximation, depending on the read, there are about 150 words in 1 finished minute."
So I'm not sure how the agency is coming up with 10 minutes for 6500 words, as 6500/150 = 43.33. Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
