I know! I'm seriously rubbish at handwritten stuff, the slightest little abbreviation throws me off completely. I just spent ten minutes trying to work out if there really is a character 邚 before it clicked!

Phil, it's kind of an inside joke. If you haven't been following the discussion on the topic of trendy terminology that we've been having lately, you wouldn't know what I'm referring to. But anyway, it's really nothing but a slight dig at the fashionable phrase of "你懂的".

Phil, better than me, I probably would have gone with a sloppily written 奶奶, which would have been a hoot for the OP. Always ask my translation partner about (almost) anything handwritten.
It would be interesting to know if we were translators in a simpler, pre-computer era, whether we'd (and by we I mean non-native Chinese speakers) be better at deciphering the handwritten stuff, since there would probably be more of it.
