I know! I'm seriously rubbish at handwritten stuff, the slightest little abbreviation throws me off completely. I just spent ten minutes trying to work out if there really is a character 邚 before it clicked! | | |

Phil, better than me, I probably would have gone with a sloppily written 奶奶, which would have been a hoot for the OP. Always ask my translation partner about (almost) anything handwritten.
It would be interesting to know if we were translators in a simpler, pre-computer era, whether we'd (and by we I mean non-native Chinese speakers) be better at deciphering the handwritten stuff, since there would probably be more of it. | | |
