- Läpäiseväksi päällystemateriaaliksi kutsutaan päällystettä, joka läpäisee vettä koostumuksensa ansiosta. Vesi suodattuu päällysteen läpi sen alla olevaan sorakerrokseen ja kiintoaine jää tähän suodattimena toimivaan kerrokseen.
Sorakerroksen alle voidaan asettaa putki, jota myöten hulevedet voidaan johtaa eteenpäin, esimerkiksi jatkokäsittelyyn. Läpäisevä päällyste voidaan rakentaa myös erimuotoisista ja kokoisista betonilaatoista, joiden väliin jää läpäisemätöntä pintaa. Ympäristöministeriö - by Arja Whiteside (X)
