Alcance de la Auditoria

A continuación detallamos los procedimientos de auditoría más importantes que desarrollamos para alcanzar los objetivos de esta auditoría:

a) Generales:

1. Obtuvimos un entendimiento de la administración sobre las políticas y actividades que desarrolla la organización en la ejecución del Proyecto.

No me suena a un lenguaje meramente técnico [Obtuvimos un entendimiento de...].
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): philgoddard

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Auditors do not reach understandings, they investigate matters to gain an understanding of them, and that is what is being stated here.

Use of understanding by auditors:

ISA 315 requires the auditor to obtain an understanding of the entity’s selection
and application of accounting policies. In the case of financial statements
prepared in accordance with the provisions of a contract, the auditor shall obtain
an understanding of any significant interpretations of the contract that
management made in the preparation of those financial statements.

Yes, Lydiannette, "gained" or obtained as Muriel says an understanding from the management about the way things worked/were done, etc.
In your second example, which refers to a specific fact regarding the devices, it might be better to say "we determined from the IT Dept" but it would help to see the original Spanish.
Note from asker:
Based on audit procedures performed, we gained an understanding from the IT Department that computers and other devices do not currently have remote wipe capability nor are they encrypted.
Dear Pantiba the " Based on audit procedures performed, we gained an understanding from the IT Department that computers and other devices do not currently have remote wipe capability nor are they encrypted" was a google search I did to support your answer. Anyway, thank you everybody!

I would say

--------------------------------------------------

you could add "an" but not really necessary in this context

or: we reached an understanding with etc.

"understanding" in the sense of "agreement"

with slight nuances that don't really matter too much in your context
