Portuguese term

Carteira

Portuguese to English Bus/Financial Accounting
I am translating from Brazilian Portuguese and am struggling a bit with the term "Carteira" in the context below:

Para as duplicatas de exportação é alterado o portador para carteira 10 (carteira duvidosa), devido ao
fechamento de câmbio que nem sempre ocorre no vencimento informado na duplicata, e por isso seu valor não
pode ser considerado para o planejamento financeiro. A cobrança é efetuada em carteira;

Duplicatas are Trade Bills, right, but would you say "carteira" is portfolio? It just does not seem to make sense to me..

Any help appreciated!

Discussion

David Hollywood Aug 4, 2017:
this is one of these questions that is totally valid and asker should wait for further input
Mario Freitas Aug 4, 2017:
I didn't check the 15 pages to see if at least one entry would help, but I'm sure the asker didn't either. It's obviously easier to post the question again. But well, I guess she has the right to do that.
David Hollywood Aug 4, 2017:
I did suggest "portfolio" as an option but not at all convinced in this particular context
David Hollywood Aug 4, 2017:
I don't think we should jump to conclusions and proz refs here
David Hollywood Aug 4, 2017:
maybe but the asker has a good point that "portfolio" mightn't cut it in this context
Mario Freitas Aug 3, 2017:
Tem nada menos do que 15 páginas desse termo no ProZ!

The term portfolio refers to any combination of financial risk such as stocks, bonds and cash. Portfolios may be held by individual investors and/or managed by financial professionals, hedge funds, banks and other financial institutions. It is a generally accepted principle that a portfolio is designed according to the investor's risk tolerance, time frame and investment objectives.

Note from asker:
Thank you Gilmar! Would you then consider that "A cobrança é efetuada em carteira;" sould be "The collection is made in portfolio"? I saw some entries that talked about "on hand" "directly", could that make sense, what do you think? Thank you a million, I very much appreciate the help. I didnt realize that you had answered because it was my first time using the website and the notifications were ok. Sorry about that!

I agree that "portfolio" is probably not the best way to go but it is nevertheless plausible at a stretch

I would say "operations in arrears" in your context

Thank you so much for the answer, I did look into the other entries in ProZ but was not totally sure since nothing matched this specific context. I really appreciate the help. ;)
