I switched to the new design to check the new availability feature and now I cannot simply go back to the old design. I am sure the new design has advantages that are no longer implemented in the older one, but I am used to it and I like it better. To make things worse, far too many links do not work for me in the new design.
I'd really appreciate a hand with it. I've tried deleting the cookie, but it does not work. I've checked the FAQs and nothing. I know there was one way to go back but

HELP!

Thank you in advance,

About the old menu structure Mar 26, 2005

Dear Pilar,
I believe that you are referring to the old menu design, the main site menu, but I'm not sure.
The problem is that there is also a dual version for the KudoZ pages, and they are also referred as old/new design.
Could ou confirm that you are referring to the menu?

Many new features do not appear at all in the old menu which is not maintained any longer. That is why there is no link to revert back to it.
You are definitely better off with the new design

Regarding the links that you have found not working, could you please indicate where they are. I'm using the new design, together with other thousand members, and it could be simply a local problem in your PC, or a temporary problem that you have had, but probably there are not dead links at all.
Please check again and report them here, or write to the Support team for investigation.

Gianfranco

That's correct. I am referring to the old menu design, to the old site.

That actually depends on the use you make of the site. I use the jobs, the KudoZ, the BB and the forums (!), plus whatever search functions I need. So, I was much better off with the old design. When the new design was implemented in 2003, I tried it and I found navigation was cumbersome, and it took me longer to find what I needed, hence I reverted to the old style and have used it since.

I start regretting my curiosity about the new availability function, because it is condemning me to the new design...

As for the links that do not work, not even the Blue Board from the home page, and I had logged in. That's a major flaw, wouldn't you agree?

I want my old design!!!!!!!

Dear Pilar,

you have probably some local problems (in your system) because, as you can surely understand, all features visible on the new menu are working perfectly for thousand of members.
The new design is more complete and more efficient but, as anything in computing, it is a matter of getting used to it.

Please contact the Support team, and they may be able to help you solve the problems with the menu items not working, or perhaps even reverse you back to the old design.

The change back is not possible from the interface, but note that the old design will be discarded at some point in the future. It will become increasingly obsolete and it will be not sustainable to maintain it in the future. It is already at some distance from the current site content.

bye
Gianfranco

I hope not! But I have submitted a Support request quoting the exact error message I get... Do we have Apache??? Because it sure looks like that type of errors generated by Apache.

Thank you, Gianfranco.

Jason, site staff, was extremely nice to return me to the old design and leave it as such in my preferences. You did not see my exchange with Support, but he was extremely helpful. So, do not talk about dictators here, please.

P.

But be warned: we do not support the old design anymore. Things that are accessible from the new design are not accessible from the old (everything is accessible from the new.)

Since we are unable to guarantee that we will not do something to make the old design unusable, and since we want all members to have access to all site features, there will be a time that we simply remove the old design from service. In the meantime, I suggest that anyone using the old design simply switch back and forth (bookmark the "go-back" link!) until they are comfortable with the new design.

Thanks!
