Rates will be lowest on long, repetitive, or easy jobs, when I can pick up speed as I go; highest for involved terminology, intricate formatting, or exacting deadlines. I'll bill per source word if I can work on an electronic version of the original; per target word, otherwise. On materials due for publication, I highly recommend independent third party proof-reading. Ideally, this will be someone from your organisation, with a knowledge of written French, and familiarity with your field. When that is not possible, I can usually arrange for proof-reading by a colleague, for an extra CAD .05/word. OUTPUT AND TURNAROUND (for material of a general nature) - 2000 words translated per day, but only 6000 per week - 3200 words edited per day, but only 8000 per week When I undertake large projects, I like to have enough leeway to squeeze in short rush jobs. That means that you can expect most short translations (under 400 words) back within 24 hours, unless I have an unusual backlog at the time you contact me.
