RESIDENTS IN STATE RECEPTION CENTRES

Information for those who stay in state reception centres
“The regulations concerning financial assistance to persons in state reception centres” (the financial assistance regulations) set out rules and guidelines concerning the provision of financial assistance to those who live in state reception centres. The financial assistance regulations require a “Self-declaration on income and wealth” etc. What is reckoned as income and wealth is described in the financial assistance regulations.
The Directorate of Immigration only provides financial assistance to persons who do not have independent means of support. If you have income and/or assets, this means that you have full or partial means of support. In such cases, financial assistance will not be paid or it will be reduced in proportion to the amount of your income and/or wealth. If you have earned income of a certain amount, you will also be charged rent.
To enable us to provide you with the correct amount of financial support, you must inform the UDI, represented by the reception centre manager/ financial manager, whether you have income and/or wealth by signing the “Self-declaration on income and wealth”. The UDI is responsible for ensuring that this information is only used to calculate the correct amount of financial assistance.
You have a duty to present documentation that you still meet the requirements for financial assistance when requested by the UDI represented by the reception centre manager/ financial manager. You will be given reasonable notice when such documentation is required to be presented. If you do not present the documentation required by the UDI, your financial assistance will be stopped.
When the UDI, represented by the reception centre manager/ financial manager, so requests, you must obtain and present the following documentation:
• a copy of your most recent wage slip if you are in paid employment
• a copy of your employment contract if you are in paid employment
• a bank statement showing the balance of your account for the last month, if you have a Norwegian bank account
• a transcript from the tax authorities of your tax assessment for the previous year
• an overview from the social security office of any social security benefits paid during the last 12 months
Declaration on income and wealth
I have understood the information above.
I declare that I have provided information about any disposable wealth and/or income to the UDI, represented by the reception centre manager/ financial manager. If I receive assets and/or income during the period I stay at the reception centre, I have a duty to inform the UDI represented by the reception centre manager/ financial manager about this, and to obtain the required documentation. The same applies in the event of a change in income and/or wealth.
I am aware that the deliberate provision of incorrect information or withholding of information about my income and/or wealth may lead to my being reported to the police. I understand and accept the contents and importance of the self-declaration and have, to the best of my ability, provided information that is important in this connection.
