I've been working as a freelance translator since 2009 for several local translation agencies such as Ushuaia Solutions, Stillman Translations and My Hispano. My areas of expertise as Spanish translator are software, automation, machinery and technical documents, with experience in other fields such as marketing, legal content, subtitling (transcription, translation, splitting, time coding) etc.
I've been working as a Project Manager for multilingual projects since 2013 up to present.
The following are some of the main responsabilities of current position:
- Be responsible for the entire life-cycle of all translation projects (budgeting, estimation and project schedule, assignment to resources, project launching and monitoring and project completion).
- Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Project administration tasks.
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients, translators, reviewers and proofreaders.
- Select and assign translation teams, negotiate rates and deadlines, and coordinate production with translators, proofreaders, in-country reviewers and DTP specialists.
- Manage virtual and in-house multilingual teams:
English into Spanish (several locales)
English into Brazilian Portuguese
Portuguese into English/Spanish
- Provide expert linguistic support to project teams such as translation tools, glossaries, terminology, query support, style guide, online support and assistance through Team Viewer.
- Understanding of CAT tools in order to train and assist translation teams.
- Use of several CAT and QA Tool: Trados, Tag Editor, Trados Studio, MemoQ, Memsource, Transit NXT, Across, Translation Workspace, Xliff editor, Xbench, LTB Tool box, QTLinguist.
- Maintenance and update of TM, glossaries and other reference materials.
- Training for new translators.
