: You mean Duppel? Confidence level 5 may be a tad high here, don't you think? Anyway, Duppel is a Swabian way of saying someone is clumsy or slow on the uptake - it is often used in a rather affectionate way: "Oh, du alter Duppel", not meaning to insult.

it means 'ass' in Polish. The application of the term (and relevant meanings) varies :-)) and, actually, quite similar to the English usage. And, yes, it is colloquial.
