Jag översätter en amerikansk videofil i vilken en mekaniker flera gånger använder ordet "ear" för en utbuktning på en motor som är lite för stor för att få plats under motorhuven på bilen han bygger. Hans lösning på problemet är att slipa av utbuktningen. Det jag undrar är om "ear" är en vedertagen term på engelska och om det finns en svensk motsvarighet till ordet? Jag hittar nämligen ingenting som tyder på det.
